A soul to forge 1,000 horses:
CAGANCHO

In 1990, at the most important horse fair in Portugal, Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza encountered a four-year-old colt, very thin and with legs covered in bleeding ulcers. A physical condition that made him go unnoticed, except for Pablo. After reaching an agreement in pesetas and an almost illegal overnight transfer, Cagancho (named by a legendary gypsy bullfighter from the 30's) set foot in Spain for the first time, where his story would begin.

Since their debut in 1991, the bond between them has been an uphill journey that surpassed the imaginable connection between a human being and an animal.
"He was noble, gentle, never got angry despite my mistakes. He was a good-natured soul that could endure anything. You never saw him sick."
- Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza
This was how Cagancho toughened up in the most important bullrings, with a unique ability to win over the audience as soon as he entered the arena.
His consecration (and Pablo's) came in Zaragoza in 1994, with all of Spain as a witness through the lenses of TVE channel cameras. Offers to acquire the horse were plentiful, but Pablo never thought of putting a price on the friendship he had with Cagancho. For over a decade, arenas around the world demanded this bullfighting horse, who became a revolution, allowing "rejoneo" (mounted bullfighting) to reach the heights thanks to his presence.

In 2002, after nearly 700 bullfighting events, Hermoso de Mendoza wanted to bid farewell to Cagancho in grand style in the most important arenas, visiting Sevilla, Madrid, or Pamplona. His final performance took place in the Plaza de Toros Monumental in Mexico, where, without a saddle and reins, galloping freely in the ring with a flag of the country draped around his neck, and amid a deafening ovation while 'Las Golondrinas' played, Cagancho concluded a path filled with successes and recognitions." Cagancho concluded a journey full of successes and accolades.
After a pleasurable and well-deserved life of retirement in the countryside, and having surpassed the age of 30, Cagancho's farewell is final.
The year 2015 marks a before and after, as this soul that forged the spirit of a 1,000 horses now becomes a legend."
